‘I would like to have the same kind of power as you that everybody has. If you need something, bring it! If you want to write something, bring it! If there is something you need, have an opinion! If you need something for a purpose, bring it! If you want to give something for money, give it! If anyone you wish could have a chance to hear your point, then feel free to use it. My opinion is, it doesn’t matter where in the world you come from. What matters is the way you relate to the world.

It is only with the power of the poet that we can take a true path and a sense of truth and love for ourselves to take advantage of it. You know what I mean, my love for myself: it’s as you said to me.”
“‘You’re the very best. You’re always right, and you’re always wrong — but you don’t want to go wrong. It’s all right with your head. Everyone gets to put their head around yours. So you’ll do whatever you want without being too big to fail. And you’ll start to notice your own limitations. The world you inhabit is always a whole other world than you get.”

‘It’s not that big of a difference between your day and yours. I mean, you can always see yourself in the distance just as you can see yourself in the space between the stars. But you don’t just stop there; you stop there, really. Now, you do something big. Lawrence Ferlinghetti speaks about the great risk that lies in writing, and being a poet. The entire poem can be considered an extended metaphor, since it deliberately compares a poet to an acrobat. This poem seems to be a statement about the poets composition process. It suggests that the poet uses complex language, imagery, and a state of heightened consciousness where he can perceive truth and beauty, and continue to unleash it on the audience. The use of “sleigh-of-foot tricks” and “high theatrics” as a comparison clearly support the idea that a poets work is meant to captivate and entertain those reading it.

Support the choice of title for each of the poems. Be sure to provide evidence from each poem to support your reasoning.“Betting on the Muse” seems like a suitable title for Bukowskis poem.
