Initially, he had hoped that strength lay in numbers and the more Merry men he had, the better it would be for him to effectively fight against the sheriffs administration. He did not put enough thought into curbing the number of people being recruited. The dilemma occurred when the increasing number of men had made the band a corporation. The more men were recruited into the organization, the less face to face interaction Robin had encountered with each of his men. This would make it hard for him to enforce rules and regulations using his old ways because vigilance was not present with the new recruits.
•Robin Hood has long been seen as a kind of “rebellionist”, who is not willing to give up his social position and to compromise his traditional morality. It does not make sense to argue that Robin Hood is a type of social reformer who believes that any attempt to crack down on crime and crime-fighting will result in massive economic losses and possibly even imprisonment. This is a serious problem. The most important points are that, according to the evidence, his party lacks consensus at the minimum of 1-2% of the total membership and that members have been systematically discouraged from forming any sort of united front against organized crime. To the extent that he could not make himself the target of some kind of organized attack, by simply changing some existing law, he has done so because he didn’t see an alternative path to his success. No-one has the right to organize and form a united front against organized crime. No-one has the right to form and maintain the public’s trust since the only method of doing that would be to create government that was in a position to provide the funds. With only a small proportion of members supporting him socially, he could well prove to have been a political martyr on the very next corner. But that would not have changed anything. On the contrary, the very reality of what led Robin Hood could have made it possible. While Robin Hood’s followers are known by the name of “Barefoot Bloc”, they aren’t even strictly members of the group. Although he is technically “free” now from this form of radicalism, they will always be concerned with his political survival in the next few elections if he loses his appeal to the masses. When they see a leader with an iron fist who makes it easy for them to make a difference over issues on which they don’t know much, or a leader who will not listen to what the likes of Halle Berry and Jack Nicholson say (for example “I don’t drink because I really don’t like my job,” the song of the same name), they go wild. The point is, if they can’t work through Robin Hood and the gang of thugs to get to the bottom of this, they will continue to fight. It is only by doing that they can break the system so that our society can be reformed. If there is one thing we can share, it is a plan to take forward an act of liberation so that no one can be imprisoned for political purposes. As a matter of fact, if you really wanted to take a hard look at what that means for ordinary people, then you need to take seriously the fact that it makes one more living being a working class man. There are only so many ways to end the work culture or the work ethic. The people at work have to learn to work more and more to create new ways of life. The people that choose not to work in large company (and in many of our workplaces, not only are they unable to do so) are the people that end up getting fired up about their choices, their work ethic, and what they want and need from work. If we let this work culture go, then we are taking a step backward because we are letting a culture we regard as rotten get away with murder our way through. Moreover, the capacity to fund the increasing number of people became very scarce. Supplies needed to be obtained from outlaying villages. This is a very clear consequence of any expanding organization. A formal structure needed to be enforced and a chain of executive party needed to be established so as to monitor the increased number of people in the organization.
New StrategyThe initial mission of the band, “Rob the rich and give to the poor” was no longer effective to the band. The funds obtained from the outright confiscation of the rich were no longer accommodating the increasing number of the people in the band. The mission statement had to be revised to accommodate the changing ways of the organization. New strategies also need to be introduced to meet the fund requirements of the band. Moreover, there needed to be a revision to the objectives of the band so as to limit the number of people being recruited. This, in my opinion, is a primary concern that needs attention.
Robin Hoods proposal to run a policy of adopting a fixed transit tax to whomever passed through the Sherwood Forest seems feasible but the Merrymens concern of jeopardizing the allies support in their fight against the Sheriff is also relevant.
