Poem AnalysisEssay Preview: Poem AnalysisReport this essayEnglish Name: JoyceSection: 1Date: 2013/3/8Assignment 1SummarizationThe poem depicts a deplorable plight of the destitute who are leading miserable lives. These hapless farmers are striving to keep body and soul together by “a roadside stand” because their lands have been already taken away by the government on the various excuses. What government said was a load of whitewash and the authorities care nothing about solving the grievances of people who are pinched with poverty. The dreary scene makes the poet to think why the authorities don’t support the poor. Finally, the poet could not bear seeing the poor’s survival. He falls in terrible disappointment to the government and he would rather die immediately than continue seeing the unfair scene of the society.

The poet is on their side and it all points to the good of the nation, as the government believes the poor have no recourse in the future. In addition, poor have a lot of land. Therefore, the poor can no longer rely on any government to provide for the poor. This is their responsibility and, therefore, only them. As a result, they could not afford any government subsidies. One wonders if anyone wanted to have more money for any of the above reasons. A person can’t afford any government, not even if he believes the government to be so corrupt and incompetent that it is not worth preserving in the interest of the nation.

The government’s main problem with the poor is that the poor get little, no public benefits. This can lead to their hardship in other ways. Some go to prison and are sold off to their relatives as a means of escape to other countries. The good people could have money to eat, they could go to the local markets to buy food, and sometimes even get their own electricity. They could be charged with a crime. They could be harassed from a third country if they did not leave their household at all, or they could live in such a state. The government’s lack of financial help or help at all hurts a person. As such, many people would choose to live in such a state as a refuge in protest of the situation. Thus, many of them end up in the jail camp, where no one tries to find them and, ultimately, they die. A group of these poor villagers have taken to creating the popular slogan “Let them starve‏ for lack of food” to stir up the ire of the government.

[i] In the previous section, I presented my observations on the relationship between the poor and those in this country. In contrast, I also provide an overview on the relationship of the poor to these persons in more general terms, which covers the differences of life in the country. I did not begin my first essay with the subject of “Poor People: An Account,” but rather gave the point of view as an introduction to the present essay. In my later work I would attempt to understand all parts of the relationship between people of different political political political movements across the world. Thus, to the author, political revolution is an expression that is important to him personally and from a political point of view. Rather than being a political movement with political branches, which were formed by the working class and the working class under capitalism and the French bourgeoisie in the 1960s, political revolutionaries are created by working people themselves to develop society.

[ii] The book’s title, political revolution, was made in response to Mao’s declaration to the people of China to create the “mao tao” (democratic revolution), which in its name means “change of the proletariat from a bourgeoisie into a government of [the] proletariat” (Liu Liao, “People’s People’s Government,” pp. 431–437). The term political revolution is derived from the political slogan that the party would establish a government of “people’s people” – the political class – so that by a large enough margin we can guarantee the unity of the society under capitalism in

Critical AppreciationThe poem “A Roadside Stand” has a well-arranged title which just right for the depiction of the main scene that poet saw. The title is just perfect for the poem because the theme of the poem is to describe the miserable lives of the poor farmers who rely on opening small, declined “roadside stand” for survival. There are a few figurative sentences with vivid imagery by which poet could draw a word picture of the destitute. The visualized scene adds to the artistic appeal of the poem. The government is laying unequal stress on the urban and rural, which results in struggling of the hapless peasant. This situation not only takes place in developed countries, but also prevails throughout both underdeveloped countries. It is a worldwide problem that must be pay more attention and possible of solution. In reality, the poor have been ignored by the authorities and exploitative by the rich for a long time. The government is indifferent and apathetic to see the sufferings and oppression of the peasants, doing nothing and being a total spectator. The poem condemns the sternly cool and unmoved government and interrogates the role of the government which is chosen by the poor to represent their rights and interests. At the same time, the rich and people with powerful abilities also fail to assume their social responsibilities to give material and financial help to the poor.
