WORLD HUNGER AND POVERTY
Can we as a “rich nation” (2) end world hunger? We can if we help the country as a whole, instead of spending millions of dollars to keep the poor; poor. The United States definitely has more then enough of everything where we shouldnt be stingy about giving a little. Yes were feeding and aiding these third world countries but its still a problem. “Hunger is not a myth, but myths keep us from ending hunger”. (2)
With all the organizations we have to aid poverty, its not focusing on the things that are important. Its great were feeding them and giving health care, but when those generous helpers leave what do they have. Their knowledge level has stayed the same. “At least 700 million people do not have enough to eat”. (2) Due to the fact that there are un sanitized conditions, bad drinking water, and fatal diseases. They dont understand the effects and harms these conditions cause.
There is no food shortage: there is enough wheat, rice, and other grains for every human on this earth. There are adequate amounts for each person to have 4.3 pounds of food, with up to 3500 calories per day. There are too many poor people to buy willingly offered food. “Even the most hungry countries have enough food for all their people right now”. (2) But it is the way the economy is setup, where its that much harder for the poor to get the resources needed to live. Then the rich stay rich and the poor stays poor.
The fact of the matter is that population has
decreased swiftly that does not remain the problem. Hunger itself is the imbalance of chances given to poor people especially women. They have very limited opportunities and protection. The rapid growth of poverty doesnt make it any better. Where land ownership, jobs, health care, and education are far away for most people, it
