Engl 1103 – Resurecction
Blake DunlapProfessor CannonENGL 110326 Oct. 2017Resurrection        The most important event in history is one of the most unbelievable things that has happened, and it is the resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus Christ occurred as it is recorded in the Bible as evidenced by the “Pocket Handbook of Christian Apologetics” the Apostles couldn’t have made up such a creative story, there was no possible motive for such a lie, and the disciples couldn’t have gotten away with faking the resurrection. (72-74).         The Apostles were not the most creative people in history. The resurrection was a life changing experience that was very convincing. Many Christians believe Jesus came up from the dead. The way people see this experience is from faith and the Bible itself. On the other hand, the conspiracy for this situation is it is impossible for the disciples to know that it was Jesus if he was injured and in need for help. (72)  Jesus Christ was also crucified and beaten till his life was ended. He could have possibly been injured because of all the torture. The almighty Jesus and conqueror of death would have not been this way. Kreeft and Tacelli said to imagine the twelve disciples meeting together and making up such a story, but if they did do this it would be against all they were about. (72) The environment you have grown up in is a big factor on what you believe in. The type of life you have grown up in is the reason you have faith for Jesus and the reason he sacrificed so much for you.
Many of the conspiracy’s also say that it was just a lie. There was no motive in the world that could have been. (73) Most lies are told for specific positive selfish reason, but there was no advantage to lying about such a thing. The resurrection has important meaning to Christianity, and it completed its salvation. The other opinion for this evidence is, there were Roman guards in front of the tomb and unarmed disciples overpowered them to see what they appeared to see. This example did not seem to be possible. (72) Faith is a big factor on if the Resurrection was a lie or if it wasn’t. Jesus Christ was crucified for the people’s sins and saved many lives. Therefore, the disciples that were believers and praised Jesus said, they saw their savior rise from the dead and the others trusted them. Timothy J Keller says “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didnt rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.” (Keller)        One of the very good points for the resurrection is the disciples couldn’t have made it up. There were a lot of witnesses and if it were to be made up it would have been proved by now. (74) The counter opinion for that is they were hallucinating. If they saw a dead man walking and talking then, the obvious theory is they weren’t seeing something right. (75) The witnesses were trust worthy people who were honest. (75) There is no possible way every witness was hallucinating and not seeing what they thought they saw. The resurrection occurred the same way the Bible says it did. God loved us so much that Christ died for us (John 3:16)
