TRANPORTATION IN HUMAN
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM:
Blood is a connective tissue through which oxygen, CO2, food and excretory products are transported.
An adult male has about 6 quarts or 5.5 litres of in his body.
Blood carries:
Nourishment
Electrolytes
Hormones
Vitamins
Heat
Antibodies
Oxygen
It takes away:
Waste matter
Carbon dioxide
Human blood consists of about 22% solids and 78% water.
Red blood cells contain hemoglobin (a protein which transports oxygen to various tissues in the body by getting oxidized as oxy-hemoglobin)
White blood cells fight disease by making antibodies and fighting germs. Types of WBCs are:
Lymphocyte
Monocyte
Eosinophils
Basophils
Neutrophils/ granulocytes
Blood cells are made in the bone marrow. The bone marrow is a soft spongy material that produces about 95% of bodys blood cells.
PLATELETS:
They are cell fragments which form clots to repair cuts and tears
ARTERIES
VEINS
They carry pure blood from the heart to different parts of the body.
They bring back impure blood from different parts of the body to the heart.
An adult Human has 100,000 km of blood vessels. They would circle the earth 2 and a half time.
The walls of the smallest of capillaries are 1 cell thick, to allow easy exchange of gases, wastes and nutrients from the tissues.
VIENS are larger blood vessels that collect used blood from the different parts of the body and return it to the heart. 70% of the blood is held in the veins.

BLOOD PRESSURE the force that blood exerts against the walls of the vessels.
The normal systolic pressure of a person is about 120m of mercury and diastolic pressure is 80mm of mercury.
LYMPHATIC SYSTEM:
Lymph is fluid plasma
