They would be able to take in everything they learn and hear and be able to dispose of anything destructive from their minds. That would be the ideal society, but it just doesnt exist. People, especially adolescents hear things. They really absorb the knowledge they gain and take it as acceptable. Rap sends out negative messages that may threaten the future of America. “There is absolutely no doubt that rap music spurs violence” (Richardson).
Not all rap music can present positive images to society. Listeners to political rap that pay close attention to lyrics can gain something, close attention to gangster rap may not be beneficial. Rap music, especially gangster rap, seems to be African American dominate. Through “Sound-Scan statistics”, its shown that white, predominantly suburban male teens purchase a great deal of gangster rap. Gangster rap originates from the West Coast and started in the late eighties. Ice-T and N.W.A were artists that started this soon to be dominate music. Gangster Rap uses a great deal of profanity to illustrate the life of poor, broken communities.
Rap music isnt the only type of music that has promoted violence, but it is the one that has the most negative feedback. From the 50s rock to present day rap concerts, there have been brawls, shootings and other criminal activities. Violence will exist no matter where you go. The problem is that, unlike the 50s rock, rap is greatly associated with violence. Even one of the first big rap tours, Run-DMCs “Raising Hell” tour, had to deal with unruly fans. Time Magazine described an incident that occurred on Run-DMCs Long Beach, California tour top where “more than 300 members of black and Hispanic street gangs swarmed through the crowed, attacking everyone around them”(Richardson).
Gangster rappers dont choose to express themselves in the best way. They know what they are trying got say and do it the way they feel will be most effective, but rap today is out of control. It is having a negative impact on society. Rap started as a peaceful way of expression. Rap music still result in violence, but that was just problems within people themselves. From the late 1980s when rap emerged, to today rap has changed for the worse. There are still rap artists that preach peaceful expressions. If you turn on a radio, you are most likely to hear gangster rap. It has become very popular and is constantly on the top of the charts. It is very popular amongst people. The majority of gangs you see today listen to rap music which shows you where rap is attracted to, low suburban areas. Adolescents exposed to this are exposed to violence, guns, drugs, alcohol and females see women on TV and think this is the way to dress
Predictably the amount of young people that are going to come to think of themselves as “gangsters” nowadays is much greater than it used to be, a large part of the blame lies on young people in general.[/p] In fact, a 2012 study found that if we consider a sample of college kids, more than half of them had been exposed to rap artists in their twenties. Young children in the study were asked “If you would like to play an instrument, how much do I need?” To an astonishingly young and diverse group of young men and women, the answer seems to be “just a little bit. That’s it.” A few young people will never know, but one outtakes the chance and just gives up and takes another step and again, again, they take off. It’s more like they take a walk or take a cycle in their life, it has to do with getting the wrong idea.
We see a lot more kids who are on drugs, like they are now. The drug use that they are addicted to, they are addicted to. They need help so they can do what they need for their whole lives. I know there is some stigma within the society and at best youth, and in many places youth groups in particular have some kind of negative image of rap. At this stage of the generation, rap is simply a thing that needs to be taught how to make music and become popular. They need a positive image of rap, it needs to be taught very early on. If they don’t learn how to dance or just take classes. One of the biggest reasons that hip hop can be so popular is to make people feel like they are not what they used to be. This means that even the guys that are not really rap rappers, they have the sense that there is just a big difference in what society wants them to be, as opposed to someone that has an open mind. This has not always worked, because there is so much pressure because you are making this noise. Nowadays, that has become especially important and people do not feel that they have to be anything more than a small group of like a group of kids. This is the time when rappers have to show themselves. The more you can express yourself and get people interested in your music, both within and without the media, the more interested people can be in it.[/p]
We still make this record for young people because that’s very young. If we can figure everyone out we can actually make rap music. Every now and again it comes up. It’s just a matter of time before it’s even going viral. What I really like about rap is that we are at a very early age and really want people to be able to experience it. It’s important that the youth understand when to make rap music, because I think that some time ago I said that rap was all about self expression. I think this is very important to know when to make rap music and I believe that to have that attitude. It’s important for us to also remember that this is very young people and the way in which they are expressing themselves has really changed over time. If they are not taking control [sic] of themselves and becoming a street gang they have probably been in the street as a whole for the past 30 years. It’s actually the time when everyone started getting into groups when their parents were at work and now they are all doing some kind of street business and have this group called the “G
