According to T. Wise, few whites have ever understood our position as resulting from racial preferences that also is a demarcation of privilege that is the necessary flipside of discrimination (Wise, 2003). As a whole society we want to believe that racism is a thing of the past and should never show up again, however, in realism of it, racism is still alive and well in society today. “Racism is defined as the belief that one race is supreme and all others are innately inferior. When racism prevails in a society, members of subordinate groups generally experience prejudice, discrimination, and exploitation” (Schaefer, 2012). We may not apply the term racism instead as Caucasian Americans we are blinded by the likings we receive on a daily basis that leads to racial favorites. These racial preferences have become such a social norm we do not even recognize the signs. Most Caucasian Americans think when racial segregation ended it was the beginning of the end of racism. Even though they were integrating into new society they were forced to work the same jobs as white people for less pay and forced to live a life of poverty. No one wants to live in this life of poverty. People then get labeled as different things even when they are not in poverty. They get labeled as stuck up if they are rich and stupid if they are poor and cannot afford school. The labeling theory can be a dangerous thing for our society. It is also something that can change a whole persons life with just one label. They may not be able to get a certain job or they may not be able to get married and have kids or just have the life they want.

Racial Profiling is a big thing in the United States. Racial profiling is the use of race or ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone of having committed an offense. White people may not come out and say it but, if they are in a legal issue and there is someone
