Title of Proposal: Transitioning into Traditionalism
The purpose of our study, is to determine if married and common law couples still show traditional roles in the operation of a household. Our study will be based on 40 participants(n=40) ;20 married and 20 common law participants. All of our data will come, from our participants answering the CDL domestic scale for traditionalism. Each participant that will answer the CDL domestic scale for traditionalism, will begin by identifying their gender, marital status and hours per week they are paid to work outside of the home. The second proportion of the questionnaire will narrow down whether the male or female performs the household task the majority of the time, by having the participant simply check off female or male or other. We expect that married couples will be more traditional as their stereotypical gender roles are defined.

From the three locations: low income daycare, call center and government office, 40 participants will be approached and asked if they would like to fill out a brief questionnaire. Once a participant agrees, they will need to identify their age and marital status. If the participant is over the age of 21 and in a living-together relationship, we will then ask them to take the questionnaire. The participant simply has to identify through a check mark, which household duties apply to the female, male or other. After they have completed the questionnaire, we will ask them to place their questionnaire in a confidential and anonymous envelope.

Our goal is to randomly approach participants, and ask them politely if they wouldn’t mind taking a questionnaire. Once they agree, and fit the criteria of our study, we will have them fill out a very simple and basic questionnaire that would take barely 15 minutes of their time. After the participant has completed the questionnaire, we will ask them to put in a confidential envelope. After the questionnaire is in the envelope, they are finish and no longer need to participate in our study. Our research study, is for people over they age of 21 and is only a 15 minute process, therefore we are not concerned with consent and the continuing voluntariness variables.

Once a participant has agreed to partake in our research study, we will explain to them that this is a completely confidential and anonymous study, thus we ask you to answer the questionnaire as honestly as you can. There is no need for a participant to write down their name. The only personal questions that will be asked are their gender, age and marital status. After the questionnaire is completed we ask that the participant place their questionnaire into a confidential
