There is no fixed definition of public administration’, fundamentally speaking though; it involves implementation of policy by civil servants within an official government’s executive framework. Public administrators govern almost every aspect of public service at the federal, state, and local levels, offering the opportunity to help mould the future.

From the point of view of students, public administration (PA) presents numerous problems hampering their daily lives since their understanding of such procedures is either limited, as in most cases, or almost non-existent. This prevents them from exploring options in their lives, or discourages them from pursuing set objectives.

The government, realizing this growing problem, has partnered with numerous universities across the United States to offer bachelor and masters level courses in PA, familiarizing students with the ins and outs of governments’ procedures. Study in these courses will also enable students to seek lucrative jobs within the framework of PA where the focus shifts from the bottom line’ of generating profits to helping their communities and fellow beings.

A degree in public administration prepares public and non-profit candidates to excel in the increasingly complex, politicized, intergovernmental environment.

Consistent and significant changes in public administration over the past decade include: regulatory changes, the way services are delivered, socio-economic, rising demand
