Boundary IssuesEstablishing a professional relationship with clients is importing when working as a caseworker. This can happen by creating an environment that is safe for the client and they feel they are being helped in a sincere and empathic way. According to Corey, Schneider Corey, and Callanan (2011), once the relationship has developed it is common to be invited to special events such as a graduation by the client or even receive a small gift, this is known as boundary crossing, where an uncommon practice is used to help the client (Chapter 7, Managing Boundaries and Multiple Relations).

It is the caseworks responsibility to only cross boundary that do not cause harm to the client; unethical violations can happen even when the casework feels they are harmless such as bartering and transference which both have been known to lead to ethics violations. Another example is sexual relationships, even though they are known to unethical, they can start by simple boundary crossings. By being aware of the consequences these issues can cause it can help the caseworker known how to make avoid these mistakes. The following 4 cases will provide detailed examples of when boundaries are being crossed and how they can potently become ethical violations.

Professional helpers can make arrangements with potential or existing clients to receive goods or services as oppose to currency, which is known as bartering. This is a great way to help clients that may not be able to afford services any longer. Although, this alternative payment method is not illegal it can lead to unethical issues. For instance, Amy is has recently shared with her counselor, Martin Smith, that she can no longer afford paying for services. After listening to Amy’s dilemma, Smith recalls her sharing that she use to work as housekeeper. Smith was already going to hire a housekeeper and feels that this situation could not have arrive at a better time. Without hesitation he asked Amy if

the other housekeepers or people working with Amy would help and the two would make arrangements to have more of the goods to pass on to Emma. Smith felt that perhaps the solution to a housekeeper or other helpers problem is for them to pay Emma to come at them with the new goods. This is not easy but, perhaps, something could be done. The current situation can be solved when the sellers and buyers decide to hire someone to have their goods delivered in a certain order. It is also possible that those who are not paying should be contacted. If a buyer can come and speak with these people, they might help. I know, it may be difficult to get an official government agreement to sign this as a legal payment method, but in any case, not far from this blog I am making a promise to the readers of this blog that it is possible in the future and not much need to explain the point to those who may not yet be familiar with it, and I hope that this project and the readers will think about the possibilities. It is a matter of when and from where we can proceed but, like with money as it is and money also like any other medium, it cannot be stopped. I have been quite content with working with a small team of dedicated helpers, and the success has helped others to feel comfortable with their own problems. I hope that my story illustrates that the concept of currency and payment of debt can develop a long term partnership. It makes things easier for our fellow humans, especially for those currently in debt to their families and finances. To me, this story shows just how difficult situations can be for individuals in crisis, and how much it takes to become a better person. I still think that it is only this experience that leads to better future human development and a better world. I’m always thankful to those who have worked hard with me and the many others in my household to build a better world in general. Hope to see you in the future. And to my closest and closest friends, The World is Getting Better, at the End
