William Goldman’s novel the lord of the flies has become one of the most widely read pieces of American Literature from the 20th century. The exercises performed on Friday helped our class better understand the motivations of the characters from the novel. The primary way in which our class was able to better comprehend the characters occurred when we elected a leader.
Furthermore, the second way in which we understood the characters was when our elected leader was overthrown and “anarchy” resulted.
To begin, the main characters were stranded on an island after a horrific plane crash. In order to survive Ralph was appointed the position of leader by the other boys. So that we might better understand the process of selecting someone to lead us our class took a vote to decide who should become our leader just as the characters in the novel did. We as a class elected Garret to be our leader. However, just like the novel our class quickly disintegrated into anarchy in the lord of the flies , Ralph was established
