Obedience
To be obedient means to be able to do the commands that you were given, mainly from a higher power than yourself. There are two primary related types of obedience, mindless and blind obedience. People choose to be obedient for a few reasons, to maintain order, to be able to stand united, and to allow others in feeling comfortable in doing the same thing; meaning setting a good example for whoever is observing them.
However, there are ways in which obedience can be altered into a negative direction. With so much power directed to one group or person the people being obedient can be directed into doing something they normally wouldn’t; for the sake or fear of being disobedient. Not thinking for themselves, can cause them to live under the will of that higher power. “No human social organization can function without some degree of obedience to authority, as the alternative would be anarchy leading to total chaos.”(
First, I would like to establish the difference between what mindless and blind obedience is. Mindless obedience is the same thing as blind obedience, which is in reference to Nellyenn, “It is doing what you were told thinking whether or not you should do it.”(
The main purpose or obedience is to maintain a type of structure and order. An example of this in present day life would be following the law. Laws are created to protect the citizens and create equality. If no one were to follow such laws not only will the disobedience affect other citizens, but at the same time could affect the person being disobedient. In relation to the laws if they are not followed it can result in being put into jail.
