The anti depressant named LEXAPRO created by the Danish company LEXAPRO, has been sold for 2,455 millions of Dollars all around the world. It has encountered a great success especially on the Asian market. Nevertheless the launch of this drug on the Korean market was not so easy.

The Korean market is under the power of M. Asif RAJAR, who is the regional Vice president of Asia and also M. Jin-Ho JUN, who is the Managing Director for the whole South Korean market. For a while now there have been some troubles between those two persons due to a conflict of interest. M. Michael ANDERSEN, the Vice President of LUNDBECK is struggling with this situation because on one hand he would like to attract the attention of the Danish Headquarter on the Korean Market, but on the other hand he doesnt know what kind of attitudes to expect from the Chinese Managers.

My approach to this situation is to propose two solutions for M. ANDERSON in order to help him to make a decision.
First solution: Stay with the current strategy
Before adopting that point of view, M. ANDERSON has to convene the two managers for a meeting that will be a sort of sum up of the strategies that the two managers have apply during all these years. He will present them all the pros and the cons of each strategy adopted and then let the two managers speak. Indeed he will only speak to these two persons because the problem is coming from their miscommunication and making this way LUNDBECK, facing a “crisis” in the Human Resources department.

During that meeting he will be able to see, if yes or no M. Jin-Ho JUN is ready or not to be at the head of the Korean Market by himself. Also he will feel how M. RAJAR feels about that and this way being able to face the different reactions that might come out from his decision concerning the Chinese managers.

If by the end of the meeting he sees that the two managers are able to communicate once all the miscommunication has been fixed, then in my opinion the best way to proceed here is to stay with the current strategy. Indeed that strategy has already proved to the Vice President that it works, and that the subsidiaries present on the Asian market are able to continue working the way it was.

On the other hand, if after the meeting M. ANDERSON feels that these two people are not able to work together anymore then he will have to adopt another strategy which is described in the second part.

Second solution: Adopt an independent strategy for the Korean Market
Indeed, by adopting an independent strategy for the Korean Market under the supervision of M. Jin-Ho JUN, the company can be pretty sure that it will work like it has during all the past years.

The manager of the Korean Market, knows the culture, speaks the language, knows the little “tricks”
