Student’s nameModulatorCourseDateDid you ever know someone famous and rich? Is he popular, joyful and confident every time – this the epitome of the mainstream success? Or, is he having second thoughts, stressed and unsure about life choices and the meaning of life? Then am willing to face success.Mainstream media and marketing have effectively brainwashed and confused our society into believing a false, even definition of success that is potentially dangerous. They want us to accept that living in big houses, lots of money, owning all sorts of latest cars, technology, and fashions is the key toward success and happiness. This a falsely advertised and overstated myth that is not there in real life. The truth is that true success requires appreciation, respect, patience, and integrity at which all these components seem to be difficult to attain in human nature. This is especially when we face modern marketers who recklessly deceive us, usurp our independence, and control our thoughts so that they can increase their bottom-line. They lie to us that living an egocentric life involving fame and money will pursuit success. Simply, money is just comparable to a new toy and it does not make a well-balanced life. For example, money will never make one wise or knowledgeable (Bostock, 2014).Similarly, fame and popularity are never synonymous with success. In America “success” is believed to represent popularity and fame. This ironical because famous, well-liked and popular people always have less talent, confidence, and freedom compared to those who have decided to follow the direction of their hearts as an alternative to mainstream culture. In most of the Americans, this myth has extinguished the originality of vision of success, turning us into the world of allegorical sheep (Bains, 2011). Differently, from the myth, the truth is that money will never buy happiness neither will it make a person successful.

Moreover, success comes when one wins the affection of children, respect from intelligent people, and appreciation from honest critics will bring success. Appreciating beauty, finding the better things on others is also bring a success in life. One must take care of his or her lifestyle in the world we are living in. Leaving the world a bit healthier, a garden patch, a healthy child, and the redeemed social condition lead to success. Indeed, people will say that you have succeeded in life.Quotes from Emerson provides the paradigm of success. It is the model to strive for and to be admired. He teaches us the importance of appreciating the subtleties and the life we are living and make it more interesting and enjoyable. In addition, volunteering your energy and time to do good activities such as helping others, helping the community will bring satisfaction and happiness. Moreover, learning how to react and act admirably and respectably in difficult situations will make life smoother. Avoiding spark lifelong friendships and unnecessary conflicts are the assurance of success (Shin, 2013).
