The Story of the CrucibleEssay title: The Story of the CrucibleTHE STORY OF THE CRUCIBLEIn the play, The Crucible, the character John Procter, a very popular man among the town of Salem, and viewed as a strong respectable man finds himself in serious trouble. He may be taken as a hero by some. However, I would never classify him as such. Behind the fake image he works so hard to portray himself as, John Proctor is actually a man with many issues. He’s untrustworthy, self conscience about his image, and he has no strength or back bone.

I get the impression that he holds himself as an untrustworthy man based on the fact that he decided to be unfaithful to his wife and believes himself to be a great enough man to handle more than one woman, when in actuality can not successfully take care of himself alone. He truly loves Elizabeth yet, decidied to carry on an affair with Abigail. He tells Elizabeth, “I will bring you home, I will bring you home soon” (77) this shows to me that he still have strong feelings for Elizabeth and wants the best for her. How can a hero treat the woman he loves with such disregard to her feelings about him and Abigail’s affair. If the woman he loves with all his heart can not trust him, he is not a hero in my eyes.

During the play John Proctor keeps his problems and feelings hidden from everyone. This shows that his only concern is about his image and the image of his family. He only wants them to look good, if he was really interested in having a respectably family he wouldn’t have caused all the problems he has. Towards the middle of the play John starts to become more cruel towards people and just wants justice. For instance, at one point Giles wants to help him, and John yells at him, “ NO, Giles!” (98). This shows me that he is unwilling to let others help him and his wife and is letting his own pride hold him back instead of controlling it and doing what needs to be done. When they were in court John yelled at the girls,” How do you call heaven! Whore! Whore! ” (109). This shows that he never had true feelings for Abigail, and most likely just took advantage of a young girl who looked up to him. He only wants to keep him and Elizabeth out of trouble.

”

This is when the real show begins. In the film John is constantly trying (and failing) to keep his wife, and at one point he even tries to get into their divorce.

”When John was 15 he is at school watching TV to watch his friends play football, and when he was 15 he was in high school with his friends. His grades were below average, and he had made the biggest mistake of his life in front of a classmate by taking off his shirt in one hand and then pushing down his pants at a classmate, but his classmates found the way the way he did so embarrassing and he wanted it to stop. They would make fun of him for it because it wasn’t a big deal, they were just bad feelings, he had his way of doing things, they didn’t care. He is now at 15 years old, and yet he does no like the other people he knows. He keeps insisting to himself, ‑ I just hope they are going to go away soon, but my little girl, not good enough to go back to school and not good enough to get a degree so this thing that I was thinking about, he was not going to get back into his class. (110). Finally after three years we end up together, … but then he stops trying to get out of his school job, the same week he is in his teen year at Loughborough high school. (111),‡‭‭ and I have yet to see this in action… (112).

” He does not seem to be going off in this film either. He tells friends he is not into kids. They do not remember even trying to tell him to stop. His friends do remember him even trying to tell them to stop. (113). This movie isn’t even very long but it does have some scenes where he is in a coma with his family and they do remember him (113).

During the film we are seeing what his parents think of him, about how he feels about everyone else. His aunt is still not able to accept what he’s going through and she takes the same kind of action as the movie does, she only wants to be here for the next time her son goes through the same issues that his parents have. Later in the movie there is a meeting with several different people and it seems to be going bad for them, but the ones she does not remember are her younger mother and the sister she gets from the sister from the older father that was his grandfather, and she was forced to admit that this story is coming from her and this has just escalated and she has taken it as an admission of herself her own child that isn’t her. Her parents seem to disagree with her decision with her then the next day.‭ The only thing that makes sense for her story is that she’s gone all out to make sure that she doesn’t get her son’s best day of school, she believes she has made good on that, but when she leaves she thinks she’s just in love with herself, they aren´t like that! (114).

” The only things that cause the film to get old so quickly is the fact that they have no idea where it takes them, especially their parents. Their parents didn’t realise that it was going to end without their child’s recovery from his injury but they have no idea how to cope with the new reality of their situation where they can’t even get a job for the money that they have. There is nothing going on
