Dr. Strangelove Satire
āDr. Strangeloveā is a political satirical black comedy films that was produced in the year 1964. The story is about a man who is not mentally stable and uses the system that had broken down to initiate a nuclear war using his authority on Soviet Union. A total action is determined to find a way out to reverse the communication and technological breakdown that took place after the bombers had selected their target (Kubrick 1). The satirical comedy element of fear of the nuclear conflict is clearly evident in the film and also the aspects of irony are also present.
The producer of the film used comedy as a way to attract the audiences to the film and utilized the satirical form. For instance, Peter Maloneās declaration is comically satirical as it makes the audience to laugh. It shows that the society had acquired the gruesome sense of humor. The characteristics of satire are foolishness, irony, and humor. Nevertheless, the satire in the film provided the ironical aspects in this film. The main decision makers regarding initiation of the nuclear war were not serious, instead they were laughing regarding the annihilation possibility, something that the audience never expected. This represents the foolishness and humor characters of satire present in the film. It is also ironical that the US and USSR which were the major superpowers during the World War I and II feared the conflict. However, the producer presented their fear in a satirical comic way. Lastly, in a satirical way, the aspects of irony were evident when the Air Force officers decided to launch the nuclear weapon minus the approval from the President.
In conclusion, the place of the individuals in the community is to engage in various activities that would make them successful not only to the society, but also to themselves.
