Why my Place of Duty is Important
As a soldier my place of duty is important because attention to detail is important. If one soldier is not at their assigned place of duty then the platoon suffers as a whole. The platoon has to pull more soldiers from their assigned places of duty to cover down on the slack caused by one soldier failing to be at their place of duty.

I know that my inability to be at the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform, and with the right attitude reflected poorly on my leadership which is something that I never wanted to happen. I also know that I showed a lack of leadership, selfless service, and responsibility, which are three of my army values.

I know that my inability to leadership could later affect a promotion and it affects the trust that my leadership has towards me. I know in order to be a successful soldier I must show leadership qualities at all times.

I know by me not showing up for work made it look like I don’t have selfless service. I know that I must put my nations, my units, and my battle buddies needs before my own in order to accomplish the mission successfully and smoothly.

I know that when I failed to show up for duty that I not only showed lack of responsibility but I also made it harder for my battle buddies to accomplish the mission. I know my lack of responsibility reflected poorly on myself, my chain of command, and my unit.

I know I made a mistake and I know that in a combat environment this could have cost the lives of others, which is why I am going to ensure that this never happens again.

I joined the army to become a better person to become someone people could trust and look up to, I know that me not showing up was not the way to show my chain of command I am someone they can put in charge and someone they do not have to worry about
