Lastly, I want to acknowledge the different articles online from which I obtained most of my information within my SBA from.IntroductionFor this Physical Education SBA the main sport that will be focused on is volleyball. I chose to base my SBA on volleyball because I have more knowledge of the sport than the other sports. From previous knowledge I know that volleyball is a serious sport and players are required to know how to serve, pass, etc, the ball. The role that I will be portraying for this SBA is First Aid. I chose to be a First Aid because it is a role not many can handle and I would like to challenge and to push myself to perform at the best of my abilities. Whenever a sport will be played it will be held on the Pallotti High School campus. What is Physical Education?According to Study.com Physical Education “is a course taught in school that focuses on developing physical fitness and the ability to perform and enjoy day-to-day physical activities with ease.” Physical activities allow students to become fit as they approach their adulthood to extend their lifespan, and can help to prevent chronical diseases such as high cholesterol or diabetes. Each team must hit a ball by hand over the net and score points by grounding the ball on the other teams court under a set of rules. Volleyball was created in 1895 by William G. Morgan an American man, who was a YMCA Physical Education director in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Morgan had designed the game to be a combination of basketball, tennis, baseball, and handball. To create the game, Morgan had borrowed the net from tennis, and raised it 6 feet 6 inches above the floor, just above the average mans head. Then in 1896, the first volleyball game was played at a meeting that was held at the YMCA College in Springfield which all the YMCA Directors of Physical Education had attended. Dr. Luther Halsey Gulick, director of the professional physical education training school, invited Morgan to show them his new game. To demonstrate his game, Morgan gathered two teams each consisted of five men to the College and showed the directors how the game would be played. In 1900, Morgan asked the firm of A.G. Spalding & Bros. to make a ball specifically for the sport. The game was formerly known as ‘mintonette’ until 1952 when Alfred Halstead had suggested to Morgan that a better name for the sport would be volleyball since the aim of the game was to volley the ball back and forth over a net.
