Pharmacist Caleb Bradham invented a beverage now known worldwide as Pepsi-Cola while he was looking for ways to attract people to his pharmacy. After the first advertisement sales began to rise it wasnt long when Pepsi decided to switch from horse drawn to motor vehicles. The breakthrough move made by Pepsi was made in late 1950s to capture the market of new generation by baby boomers. Their best known advertisement slogan such as “Have a Pepsi day”, “Youre in the Pepsi Generation”, or “Youve got a lot to live” set a new standard for advertising. To capture the new market of X-ers, throughout 1980s and 1990s Pepsis commercials featured actors, sport stars, supermodels, and superstars and to dominate in a soft drink category Pepsi, after 65 years of selling only Pepsi – Cola introduced new products: “Diet Pepsi and Mountain Dew”. In the 1980s Pepsi- Cola declared victory in the cola wars.

Pepsi Cola decided to back up their positions by investing in a fast food restaurants and a snack industry. PepsiCo resulted from the merger of Pepsi-Cola and Frito Lay, Inc… In order to survive in direct competition with competition like Coca-Cola they needed to come up with innovative products. The Pepsi-Cola company now accounts for 25% of the worlds soft drinks and more than 70% of the sales come from North America. The Pepsi-Cola Company had some losses in the beverage category but are looking forward on creating new and more dominant beverage company. The Frito Lay currently leads the market with greatest margin of lead from the closest competitor. By 1996 it operated in 39 countries and more than 30,000 restaurants. Pepsi-Co leads today having the biggest consumer products, most restaurants. Most known brands Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Frito Lay.
