Management Chapter 11 Essay
Alex Chiorean Chapter 11 Essay         Diversity is a beautiful thing. People from all over the world are accustomed to their own beliefs and religions that makes everyone unique and special. Having many diversities in our nations workforce can benefit in many ways! One main benefit is expertise and knowledge in certain categories that people of other ethnicities may not be as familiar with. This allows our nation to be such a big melting pot, since people from all over the world bring their culture to the United States with the skill or services that they provide.         Fortunately prejudice, such as racism is slowly declining in our society, but unfortunately it is still around. Discrimination towards women and other races is still very likely to happen, even on our own college campus! People everywhere put others down to make themselves feel better, or because they think they have higher authority than others. It’s something we must look out for, and speak up when the time is right!        Managing diversity is about putting people of different ethnicities, religion and culture into the right work place. A position that will benefit both the employer and the employee. Affirmative action on the other hand, is about putting an individual that faced some type of discrimination  into another spot of the work force, where such problem will not happen again.         Managers can do a lot to overcome obstacles to diversity, first off start by being nice and welcoming! The more welcome a person feels, especially when they are put in a strange working environment, the harder they will work and try to please the manager. Another way to overcome mistrust and tension is by running a multicultural organization! Here, diversity not only is present, but is also valued! The more valued someone’s personal beliefs are, the more comfortable they will be with their employer and surroundings!
