Parking on campus has become a problem for students. With the number of student enrollment increasing at E.T.S.U. the need for more parking spaces has increased considerably. Not only do we need more parking spaces for faculty and staff, we need to increase the parking spaces students with disabilities as well. As stated by the E.T.S.U. parking enforcement, “Averages of 100 to 300 citations are written out each day.” This shows that there is a major problem with the parking on campus.

The solutions I propose are to build two parking garages on campus: The first parking garage would be for faculty and staff, so they will have an easier time finding a place to park. This will help with the professors making it to class on time. The second would be for students with disabilities. This will insure that they have a safe place to park with access to the Buck Stop buses to be able to get to class safely.

Make the campus a more bike friendly place: putting a bike lane on campus will make those that have bikes feel safer and may encourage them to ride instead of drive.

Offering incentives for those that car pool may cut down the need for more parking spaces. This may encourage people to ride with others instead of driving themselves. Put up flyers encouraging students to ride with each other. For instance, put in bold lettering that carpooling with save gas or make an eco-friendly issue that gets students attention, by explaining it will cut back on pollution.

Designated parking for those students that live on campus may also be a solution to some of the problem. Many of the students that live on campus park in the parking spaces that those that do not live on campus need which causes the need for more parking.
