Organizational Behavior
Jessica Vargas                                                                                  Organizational Behavior                                                                                                Reflection 1Morals at WorkAccording to the Oxford Dictionary Ethics are the moral principles that govern a person’s behavior or the conducting of an activity. Myron Curry mentioned on his article that a solid ethical foundation is generally based upon human rights, what is fair and what is in the best interest of the workplace. As a society we are faced with ethical dilemmas every day; how we handle these situations shapes our culture. Business Ethics is an interesting business theory primarily because ethics concern an individual’s moral judgments about what’s right and wrong; it questions one’s morality. Morality and ethics play an immense part in how one reacts and responds on a daily basis.  Morality is defined as the beliefs about what right behavior is and what wrong behavior is.

There are countless of ‘bad ethics’ in the real world. For instance, Walmart may save people money but they may also negatively impact communities. Their low prices my hurt other suppliers and the company has received many criticism with their leadership. Many Walmart former employees have come forward with complaints. There was a case where a Walmart employee worked for 5 years and now refuses to shop at the location where she worked at. When she received a raise in two- digits, Walmart Staff precipitously started siding with customers who made up farfetched complaints. She then explained that staff members refused to assist her when a raging customer accused her of yelling at her child, which she claims she did not. Walmart management never listened to her account before firing her because they claimed it was her fault. She then opened a case and fought Walmart and won. The former employee mentioned that she was never in a position to quit, she claims she was satisfied with other employees quitting because of bad management.  Ethics is doing right even when no one is looking. A society tends to run smoothly with good ethics. Walmart clearly needs improvement within their management and better treatment of their employees. Ethics are just as vital in a workplace and essential because tough ethical code proves a non-threatening environment with high employee morale.
