On September 1991, Otzi, known as the Iceman, was found dead in Otzal Alps near a mountain between Austria and Italy. Otzi was found lying face down, covered in ice, and his left arm crossing over to the right side of his body over his neck. His face and other body parts were also found with big black spots. After successfully removing Otzi from the ice, deep research was being done to find out almost everything about Otzi.

Otzi was first measured by length and weight. Otzi was weighing about 110 pounds at a height of 5’2. It was soon discovered that Otzi was born in 3345 B.C and died in 3300 B.C. Since Otzi died in 3300 B.C., which happened about 5,000 years ago, this made him Europe’s and the world’s oldest mummy.

Otzi was wearing a different type of clothing than today’s clothing. His clothes can be described as “Neolithic clothing” due to the time period he was living in and his style. Otzi was wearing leggings, cloak made of woven grass and a coat, a belt, and shoes which were all made of leather of different skins. He was also taking a backpack, a knife, a quiver with 14 arrows, and a copper axe with him which measured about 24 inches.

On Otzi’s left shoulder, X-rays and CT scan found an arrowhead. It was best believed that Otzi died due to blood loss after getting shot by the arrowhead which later must have damaged nerves and blood vessels. It was also observed during CT scans that Otzi had cracked about four of his right ribs after his death. Six months before his death, it was discovered on his fingernail three Beau’s lines which proves that Otzi was sick three times. Another thing that was found was Otzi’s outter part of his skin missing.

There were types or diseases that Otzi had was called Lyme disease. Otzi did not die from this disease but during his time, his disease could have gotten worse and disable or kill him.

It was planned to get a replica of Otzi’s full body into the museum. The full body of Otzi was taken into a laser machine which duplicated the body form of Otzi.
