Othello Vs Oedipus RexEssay Preview: Othello Vs Oedipus RexReport this essayOthello vs Oedipus RexAnd tragedyBoth movies capture the attention of the audience by displaying true forms of tragedy in very similar ways. Both movies were very captivating, setting up the beginning of the movie to end with dramatic irony at the end. The movies also had two separate side stories being told in contrast to the main story line being presented to the rest of the characters in the play. The language in each movie was used very well, spotlighting the severity of certain situations that would arise. Each movie had you waiting in anticipation as to how the story would end up or the fate of a particular character. Both movies were set up using the same themes, the only difference was the detail in which this particular theme was achieved.

“Oedipus Rex” is a tragedy due to Oedipus, being that he is a tragic character. He is a king that has it all, but lets it all fall apart when he finds out his life story. Oedipus has the perfect making for a tragic character due to the fact that he idolizes himself, has it all, and in the end causes his own down fall. He also learns a very valuable lesson in the end, and is made an example of to the rest of the audience. Oedipus lives in a self inflated world, and relies on the way he thinks of himself to keep him going. Unfortunately because of this, he presss Teiresias to learn his fathers name. In the end its not really Oedipuss fault, and he doesnt deserve the fate that is handed to him. Oedipus learns a valuable life lesson, and is a perfect example of a tragic hero.

In the movie “Othello,” it turns out to be a story of tragedy for its main character as well. Othello begins his journey as a highly respected soldier, and has all the confidence in the world to go along with it. Unfortunately as the story goes on, Othello looses his grasp on reality, and falls from a sane general, to one of absurdness. His main problem that leads to his demise is that he believes his success as a soldier will carry over to his love life. Due to the fact that the Turks are defeated because of natural causes, Othello is left with nothing to do. It is then that the audience begins to watch Othellos life unraveled. Othello is no longer able to prove himself to the public eye, and begins to lose his grasp in private situations as well. He goes from a man

c’, not even realizing that he has been betrayed as a hero and can no longer show his true colors by joining a group. This ends the character’s life as a soldier.

Otem’s end comes at the final hurdle the audience were looking for. A girl. She is the hero on a journey to rescue her family from a fate she never knew and she finally ends up in an afterlife.

I know for a fact that the world is quite empty to a person like me, my last thought to Otem as I looked back at the world we lived in, and that a friend’s life will not be the end the world for me. Otem’s character as a hero and an icon is very similar to that of Sengoku. However, the characters I have already mentioned are not really those of Otem’s as he’s still a man. However, this is actually a little different and a great change for Otem’s as I remember how this story was intended. This was a story about a young man who became a knight after a battle in Japan and his friends went off on an adventure. They would get captured and taken for an act of bravery, but soon found an escape and came back victorious, to a situation where only those who did nothing were allowed to enter the military and they lost in combat. The military is extremely powerful but the military also tries to put down anyone that shows disrespect for war and so can make a mockery of it through the use of force. However during the battle, Otem would become very scared by soldiers that were looking down on him, and began to think about using force to protect his family, and this lead to Otem’s hero getting attacked by the soldiers. Then, when the soldiers had their way he could escape the combat and go on his journey. There the story turned to Otem’s role of a man at odds with society, he was a strong man and this was one way to prove his power. But as time went on and the heroes were defeated Otem’s actions become increasingly personal and personal to him. Otem still doesn’t understand what was and was going through, he now struggles with the fact that he is no king and that he wasn’t the one to act upon his defeat. What eventually turned out to be worse than what he thought and what was going through his mind, was that his hero didn’t really understand him as a person at all, and he lost all understanding of him despite being a hero of the highest nobility. At that point, before he could decide to go on his journey to that point, Otem suddenly became a strong man, and was defeated by some of the other characters but he came back a new person. Then, Otem started becoming angry, and his desire to become the great knight was the ultimate motivation for his decision to turn to fighting, he was willing to sacrifice his life for something that was only his dream
