When it comes to officer misconduct, discipline is addressed through training intended to help the officer develop greater self-control so that there are no future judgment or more compliant within the department or community with the officer by retraining them on agency values and guiding principles and the code of ethics. The main emphasis in this kind of disciplinary system (Discipline without Punishment), is that the officer is taking personal responsibility for their actions. It is the Officers soul responsibility to start using their decision making skills and choose to make the right decision on an ethical and moral mind set, or take the right action that is supported by their peers and agency leadership. When an employee willingly follows agency policy, meets or exceeds expectations, and practices good judgment, it is indicative of effective discipline and self-monitoring. There may be many ways to accomplish this goal and maintain positive relationships between the officer and supervisors through coaching, mentoring, and discipline.

When it comes to ethics training every department needs to make sure that they have a strong Ethical and Criteria for the whole department. There should be ongoing training of ethical training throughout the year to help keep fresh in all officers minds on how to deal with different complexs situations on an ethical and moral base. Officers have a code of ethical and law that that they have to live by when they are on and off the job they need to have constant training to keep fresh the ethics training and also great leaders to lead them in the right direction. As if there upper leadership is not acting ethically they will not act ethically.
