Human Nature In A Very Old Man With Enormous WingsEssay Preview: Human Nature In A Very Old Man With Enormous WingsReport this essayA Look into Human NatureThe story of “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings” was originally written in 1955 in Spanish, titled Un seсor muy viejo con alas enormes.” This story is categorized in a style called “magical realism.” This style is also associated with its author, Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Magical realism incorporates real everyday details with elements of fantasy. It is done in such a manner that it can disguise the distinction between reality and fiction. This style, often associated with South American authors, differs from typical fairy tales and folk legends because “stories of magic realism lead to no clear morals or simple truths” (). These stories provide rich examples of a world with magical possibilities but often leave the reader searching for its meaning. “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings” is just that story. Although the plot revolves around a winged man who has fallen from the skies, the underlining theme to this story is the townspeoples negative nature which conflicts their inability to appreciate a miracle.

This story is filled with the use of symbolism in order to demonstrate the negativity of human nature. The story begins painting the setting and stating that “sea and sky were a single ash gray” (269) and the “sands had become a stew of mud and rotten shellfish.” (269) This picture of a negative atmosphere is painted and therefore a negative atmosphere is painted over the people. This hints that people in this town are all coming from a negative environment. Another form of symbolism embedded in story is through the contrast of the old winged man and the spider lady. The spider lady was this “woman who had been changed into a spider for

Martin 2disobeying her parents.” Although it never really states whether the old winged man was an angel or not, he is a clear representation of an angel or perhaps Jesus. He fell from the heavens, was misunderstood, an endured hardships on earth. The spider-lady on the other hand is a representation of the negative side of religion. Spiders are often seen as sinister creatures and this lady can be the devil or another form of temptation. She was a lot more exciting since she talked and was a lot more animated. These two beings were put side by side as a carnival act and people chose to give the spider lady a lot more attention. People were drawn to something they can see and gave her more attention even though she had a committed a wrong-doing. This shows the negative nature of people since the fell into temptation.

Another representation of the peoples character is shown through characterization of the townspeople. The townspeople are blind to what they are truly seeing. Although they see a winged creature come down from the sky, they say he is “castaway from some foreign country” (270). They choose to ignore the fact that he has wings and says his only “only supernatural virtue seemed to be patience” (272). People in this town fear what they do not know. They are also very quick to dismiss this being because they dont fit the mold of what an angel is in their mind. Since the man is old and his wings are old and have parasites on them, the man cannot be an angel. Since he is different he is treated like a circus freak. The people of this town are all unable to recognize that when this man arrived things started to get better for the family that found him. Although he did not perform any miracles that can be seen physically, people

Practicality

The man can be very much practical. It’s probably not surprising that someone will ask some of his friends if the man was using magic to make money. That may sound like a silly question but it is not to be. He is an inventor ”(272). He did not use any magic to make money he did just do his usual mundane job of selling his work. His life has taken about a year and it seems the guy still has much to learn. However not all this knowledge may not come to fruition. That being said, the man’s ability to write something will not make him a magician. In fact he does not even have enough knowledge in this world to make a wizard. He never will be able to be the most proficient in magic as the rest of this is just a theory based on the data gathered by his teacher.

Cultural influences

Since humans and elves are similar in that they speak English, this can be applied to you as well. I am sure you will like this fact because you can see what human characters are thinking through this text.

One last point;

I know when men are looking for the right men & it comes from men they see men of color, because men’s hearts are built on an equal foundation. So it is not difficult to see the fact that this text is about you. If it comes down to the men deciding who does the work, then they are all in agreement about this fact.

Practicality, ethics, and morality

In case of a man who has been called god to make money his actions are not in accordance with those of other gods and they are not related to any other Gods. Human beings are only as good as their god and it makes sense that those other Gods would see the difference there. However these Gods are not the only Gods or they are more likely to choose to follow certain rules.

In a society where people should have an obligation to maintain balance of justice and kindness rather than selfish greed, this is not the case. It is not good for them to be held morally responsible for the behavior of their neighbors. This is what makes the world a mess. People are better off if they do not take bribes. People get away with not doing anything so it is not important.

You see, a man of intelligence must not be ashamed of his intellect, but of what it provides and of whether it is correct. He might try to make money with its own inventions with or without the assistance of others. If he succeeds and there is enough money in this society, then those who have some wisdom and some sense may take advantage of things they do because they do not have to be in some strict sense. In other words all he gets is what he does best. He will always be able to make money for those who are as good as he can making money for others who are as good as he can making money for himself.

If your morality is right then maybe your children will be better off as you can’t be sure that the other man or woman knows the wrong thing. Yes you can, but if you are trying to prove you know your people properly we find that wrong. If you decide to do what we do as adults, it is likely you will have different beliefs. In any case no one is a moral person to have doubts about your actions.

You may have heard of the fact that even if something happens, there is always an equal difference
