I am a student at NADC in Nashville,TN. We are doing essays on “Diesel Emissions for 2010 for this session. I want to futher my education in this field, to be able to have the knowledge in repairing farm equipment, or any diesel engines. This can also help if I decide to try and get into mantenance at any of the factories or the bus garage.
My father and grandfather are both in mantenance at two of the factories. My father is at Johnston Control, which makes parts for automobiles. My grandfather works at Magoteaux, which is a founderary, that makes grinding balls. Both of them work on the farms that they share. Both can work on the farm equipment,and the diesel motors for the tractors and farm trucks.
Some of the topics that I willl need information on is: How will the 2010 engine know if the DEF is low in the tank? Will this condition set a fault code or codes within the system? What type metal is used in the SCR catalyze? Can any other fluid be used in the DEF system? What is the OEMs mix amount of urea to fuel in todays engines?
I really enjoy working with my hands, and seeing things that I have fixed. Some day I hope to be able to have my own garage and fabrication shop, to build and design “Unlimited Late Model Racing Cars” for dirt tracks.
