Are textbooks really necessary in today’s rapid growth with electronics? This list goes on forever, but the reality of it is, we really do not need textbooks anymore. Reasons being: it saves schools money and the notebook computers are more engaging for students. Colleges are now starting to convert to the e-books (notebook computers) over the traditional textbooks.             One reason for schools, such as colleges, are converting to notebook is because it saves them money. E-textbooks on tablets cost on average 50-60% less than print textbooks. (Dallas) Textbooks can mistakeningly put misplaced phrases or misspelled words in them, but with notebook computers, mistakes can easily be fixed. This also saves them the time publishers have to take in order to write another book. It can all be updated online. Then, schools will have more money in their budget to do different things with such as, develop programs or apps, to help their students learn better.

The other reason is because notebook computers are more interactive. Endless apps can be created for the notebook computers! When one is reading a textbook, it is so easy to get bored or distracted because a student becomes uninterested in what he or she, but with a notebook computer, everybody can be interactive and enjoy what the teacher has to say. Lastly, they are so much more portable and students would not ever want to leave it at home!            Although notebooks are very convenient and more fun, textbooks are traditional and a nostalgic sense in our culture. In addition, convenient for today’s teachers. At the end of the day, notebook computers should replace textbooks. The reasons are because it saves the schools money and they are more interactive for learning. Are textbooks really necessary in today’s rapid growth with electronics?
