In the article, “Resume of Doom,” Maureen Dowd writes a playful yet firm opinion on how she feels about Paul Wolfowitz, whom she informally addresses as “Wolfie”. Her essay structure is built like a resume, which she believes Wolfie would have, regarding his accomplishments and experiences as a President of a World Bank to a Deputy Secretary of Defense for President George W. She informs us that Wolfie had a demented vision of “imagining an Iraq that didn’t exist” and tried to rid of anything multilateral and multiculturism which ended up backfiring at him. Shaha Riza, a close friend of Wolfie and a bank director who has been denied of many promotion, claims that she has been discriminated even before Wolfie’s act of eliminating what Dowd refers to as the “multi(s).” And because she is a Muslim Arab woman, she felt the need to “question the status quo both in the work of the institution and the institution itself”. She was furious when Wolfie had informed her that she had to work out of the State Department. He concurred that it was “inappropriate and imprudent for the president to offer Ms. Riza these terms”. As a result of her struggle and well fought dispute, Shaha successfully “worked up the numbers” and raised from a $60,000 to a $193,590 salary.
