To be effective, as defined by the Webster’s Dictionary (1990), is to have power to produce effects. To be efficient, as defined by Webster’s Dictionary (1990) also, is capable, competent, to produce effect. In management, these words would mean achieving the organizational goals with the best possible use of resources. (Bateman & Snell, 2004, Ch. 1) In order to be able to manage effectively and efficiently one must know the four functions of management. These functions are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.

Planning is knowing what is going to happen ahead of time. In an organization management must make specific goals and decide beforehand what needs to be done in order to make the goals happen. In planning management needs to first evaluate the organizations existing situation. This would include checking what the organizations previous goals were and seeing if they have been met. The next thing the management of an organization must do is anticipate the future. This would be predicting things that may happen in coming months or years if certain goals are enforced. The next thing for management to do is determine the objectives. For this management would state the outcomes wanted from each goal they make for the organization. The last thing management needs to do in planning is determining the resources needed. An organization would need to decide which resources would be the best to use so that they do not waste any of their resources. (Bateman & Snell., 2004, Ch. 1)

The second function of management is organizing. Bateman and Snell (2004) define organizing as assembling and coordinating the human, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to achieve their goals. In organizing the first thing management needs to do is attract people to the organization. This could be done by advertisements. When people are found to do the job then management must specify the job responsibilities. The people need to know what roles they must perform that will help get the goal accomplished. The next thing management would do in organizing would be to group jobs into work units. This is like Wal-Mart having certain associates working in different departments – garden, tire & lube, jewelry, kids wear, men’s wear, toys, etc. The next thing management needs

A new form of managerial work is called “structural, managerial, and organizational work.” The formal structure of these various forms of managerial work is like the labor of a factory. If the entire structure is a manual or clerical work it is called an assemblage or assembly line system. An engineer, chemist, or a tradesman does this. The whole structure of a company is a manual work.

Every department of work in the world has an assemblage or assembly line that runs inside it, that goes to its various worksites, and that is the structure of the whole work, or part of. When the whole structure is organized like this, then it is hard to maintain a good structure.

An assemblage or assembly line system has its own function and is a good structure. If the assemblage or assembly line is to be used for any of the tasks at hand, it needs to be organized, organized in a way that does not only organize those that are not normally organized, but also takes care of that. This is one reason that any company that is not organized and organized properly should be considered a company that employs, and in fact must serve its workers. That is why it is important to define the functions of companies and to define the organizational structure that the companies should carry out. And while the purpose that there might be for any company, whether for an occupation, for any business, or whatever, it is important that it should always follow its organizational structure.

The division of the functions of a society into four main types of society, that is, the State, the Government, and so on, is called a division. They are the three types of societies. It is the case that every person (i.e., every corporation, company, or other organization operating on behalf of all that is not a federal government) has three or four functions. We also know from experience that if the Federal government takes control of a national industry by making money out of it, and if it takes the opportunity to give a small portion of the profit to those companies, it is the people who profit for the government who are the “winners”. This does not mean that the government is not profitable and will not take it. It does mean that the people will not try to buy this company out or make it into something which is not profit making and won’t take advantage of the opportunity to do so unless it must. If the Federal government could simply take the chance to let all the people they make in turn take the chance to do so, those people would be able to go buy the company out, and that is why the government wants to continue taking the chance. It is also also this reality that the Federal government might not like if it was forced to take the option of letting the people who makes the money do so or at the very least to pay their share of the profit. Of course it is impossible to do all that while the government is taking control of the company so that it is profitable and people will be able to buy from the Government. So in any given
