Come along for the adventure of a life time. Today we are going to delve into a world full of action, magic, fun, intrigue, romance, and comedy. As we venture into the realms of tabletop gaming. It is an enchanting world of elves, dwarfs, gnomes humans, and other strange and enchanting creatures. Hold on Mark what are you doing? Tonight we start my game session. Mutants and Masterminds an epic heroic quest to defend Topaz City and the world from the evil super-villains and alien forces bent upon its destruction and the enslavement of all human kind. Come on Jason we all know that the good guys always win in those games. Good always triumphs over evil. Where is the appeal in that kind of a game? Look I dont think we should argue about this. We have a three new players why dont we let them decide. We will both make our case and let them decide which game we should play. He can compare the games and decide which sounds like it would be more fun. Is that okay with you? Dungeons and Dragons or Mutants and Masterminds which is the better game?

Jason you go first. Alright first here is a little history on the game. Mutants and Masterminds was created in 2002 by Stephen Kenson a roleplaying designer for Green Ronin Publishing. He created Mutants and Masterminds based off of the popular D20 system which is a much easier game system then the Dungeons and Dragons system. In 2002 when Mutants and Masterminds premiered it revolutionized the tabletop gaming genre, by giving new gamers a more streamlined system to use. No longer did players have to remember which dice went to which weapons, or keep track of seven different dice. No now the new players only need one die. Who wants to keep track of all those dice? Alright yes Jason there are a few dice required to play Dungeons and Dragons, but all those dice make the game more challenging and more diverse. Now you want to talk about the age of a game then Dungeons and Dragons would win hands down. You have to admit that your beloved Mutants and Masters is based on Dungeons and Dragons. Think about it Dungeons and Dragons was created 28 years before Mutants and Masterminds. Stephen Kenson used Dungeons and Dragons as a base for his game. The creators Gary Gygax and David Arneson created Dungeons and Dragons in 1974; as an alternative to the tabletop World War II games that they had played for years before. When Dungeons and Dragons came on the gaming scene many people flocked to the game even back in the 70s it was fun and “groovy”. So you guys are saying that both of these games were built off of other games, and that Mutants and Masterminds is a simplified version of Dungeons and Dragons? Asks one of the new gamers. Mark and Jason look at each other shrugging their shoulders answer yeah thats about right.

Okay okay we now know a little about the past of the games tell us about how to play the games. What about character creation. How does that work and how is it different between the two games? Mark you go first I went first with the history. Alright well where to start? Where to start? Start at the beginning I guess. First you need to have an idea of what you want your character to be. Do
