Being the owner of a new business would require a great amount of knowledge of the growing technology the world have today. I have just opened a warehouse that will distribute products to local stores and I am in the process of deciding what equipment I would need in order to run a successful company. The things my employees would be doing are unloading trucks, loading trucks, picking orders and making sure we have a clean work environment. I have over 20 years in working in this kind of environment and I know a lot about what kind of things I would need in order to make the warehouse run smoothly.
The first thing I would implement is a name badge that is used to clock in and out of work as well as for lunch breaks. This would allow Human Resources to do other things that they are required to do such as looking at resumes and interviewing new employees. This would also cut down on paperwork. All applications would be done on computer also at home or in the lobby of the business. Once an employee is hired the HR department will have them sit at a computer and finish the hiring process by completing W4s, Insurance Forms, Emergency Contacts, Direct Deposit Forms and any other paperwork that has to be completed. All of these things will make things run a lot smoother for the HR department. This would help HR ensure the information that the new employees is correct because they would have a representative there for any questions the employees may have.
Once an employee is hired and enter the warehouse area all equipment will have computers that are used to ensure a proper safety check is done before the computer will move. There are certain things that has to be done before a forklift will move and the employee must make sure that the lift is in proper running condition or report it to their immediately supervisor whom will report to maintenance. The lift will then be taken to maintenance for repair. Once and employee began picking his or her order they will have a scan gun to scan each item they would be picking for the order but this has to be checked because a person can always pull the wrong order but scan the right item in a warehouse. So there are somethings that still has to be done by vision. The error would be caught before it is loaded

onto the truck for shipping because every item has to be scanned before it is loaded on the truck. Any
item not supposed to be on the vehicle would be kicked back and the employee who picked the wrong item would
