The movie “Dead Poets Society” produced by Tony Thomas, Paul Witt, and Steven Hoft. Directed by Peter Weir was released in 1989. It is a very exciting drama that will keep you interested while watching. It is about a group of students who are introduced to a new English teacher named Mr. Keating. He gives them a whole new way of thinking. He tells them about the Dead Poets Society, which sparks the interest in Neil Perry, Todd Anderson, Knox Overstreet, Charlie Dalton, and Richard Cameron. They restart the club, and then later realize how much they love and enjoy poetry. Neil realizes after being a part of the group, he needed to be more daring, and try things he actually enjoys. Neil Perry is a very interesting person. Different characters in the movie, and Neils passion for acting greatly changed his character throughout the movie. He grew up and realized what he wanted for himself, and not what others wanted for him.

First of all, Neils father plays a great part in Neils life, his dad is very strict, and demands perfection from Neil. Neil is a very confident young lad, and is very respectful, and listens to his dad at all times. Neil is taking a speech class, and his father forces him to drop the class. His father sets up Neils life for him, his father doesnt care what Neil wants. His father controls him like a puppet, Neil is like a robot, he just takes commands without thinking of himself first. Neils father really messes with him, and that screws up how Neil thinks which causes him to do what he does. His dad just never supported him and listened to Neil.

Another person that affects Neil greatly is Mr. Keating. Mr. Keating opened up Neils mind and taught him many values, and gave him different ways of thinking. Neil likes Mr. Keatings way of teaching, and finds him very amusing. Mr. Keating taught his students that its good to be a little rebellious at times. He talked to them about the Dead Poets society, Neils Which makes open up to reality. He found out how to think for himself because of Mr. Keating, and that he had a love for poetry and a great passion for acting.

After all that, Neil decides to join the play and follow through with his passion for acting. He knows he wants to be an actor, and tries out and ends up getting the lead role. He is excited that he got the part, the only problem is, he needs approval to be a part of the play. He decides that he is going to make a false letter to the school board, and act like his father did it to tell the school board it is okay for Neil to be a part of the play. He loves acting, he want to do what he loves. He acts all the time, he acts for his father, he is his fathers pet.

He follows through with the note, which his father later find out and chews
