Patriotism, most of us have it it exists in all ages and all races. My question is this are you so patriotic to stand up, defend your country and die for it?Patriotism is love for ones country including the land and people . A feeling of being unified, whole and in harmony, and membership in the country. Admiring it customs and traditions, pride in its history and devotion to its happiness and fortunes of the country.

Patriotism denotes positive altitudes by an individuals to their own nation, to its national homeland. This word patriotism is used to describe emotions and attitudes, political views, symbolism, and specific acts, with respect to a nation. A positive form of patriotism is emotional and voluntary. It remains faithful to certain values such as respect for the flag. It relies heavily on symbolic acts such as displaying the national flag, singing the national anthem,, participating in a mass rally, placing a patriotic bumper sticker on ones vehicle. Two proposed amendments to the United States Constitution illustrates the similarity, one enforces Christian values and would effectively prohibit same sex marriage, one enforces patriotic values and would forbid flag burning.

On the other hand patriotism has its negative attitudes. Negative in the aspects of being racist against anyone who is of another race, ignorance draws them to treat others badly. The typical “American” is white, blue eyed and blonde, sadly there are people who believe if a person doesnt look this way, arent considered American, even if they were born in this country .These people are rejected and are seen as less.

Patriotism is an essentially emotional support for the nation, the fatherland. It is not intended to have rational foundation, soldiers do not fight for a country because it produces more strength than the enemy, but because it is their country.
