This delay would have caused NIDA to miss the national report submission deadline to Congress and the White House. Due to the importance of the impending deadline, I negotiated with the teams at the National Institute of Mental Health to transfer the information to their computers to complete the job. I was able to get the workers to go through a number of workshops to help them understand how to safely make mistakes. My staff and I were able to work out an acceptable resolution to this issue. After being assured that a timely and satisfactory resolution to the issue would be issued, the two firms negotiated a deal with the National Drug and Alcohol Development Agency. As one of the biggest contributors to the opioid abuse crisis in the United States, NIDA is responsible for ensuring that drug-facilitated youth programs are in effect. The National Drug and Alcohol Development Agency has provided us with information about the problem in recent years and is actively supporting programs to help young people, youth, and families dealing with substance abuse.
During my time at the National Department of Health, totally took a more serious approach to the National Drug Abuse/Trauma Prevention Program, as stated by a previous press release which stated, “In 2012, we spent nearly $3 million on HIV testing. Today we do about $1,250 per year and that is $5 in HIV tests for every $1 in funds expended. Our goal is to make sure that every youth in America has access to the best possible quality medication to be able to treat the very real risks of opioid abuse. This can only happen by ensuring education and support for addicts and prevention of the most devastating consequences of drug use. Our focus is to help states and the nation to make safe, effective, and cost-effective education and support for addicts and young people.
