They were busy unpacking when Ethan called inviting Nathan to play basketball at the subdivisions basketball court. When Nathan finished unpacking he took his bike to the court but he stopped at one slope where there are a lot of acacia trees and one with a swing and monkey bars. He parked his bike and lay on the grass. Whiffing the fresh air while closing his eyes, he could not help but reflect on his life. Just as he opened his eyes, something fell on him. He was surprised at what fell on him. It was with a black doll dress, with black hair and bangs covered the forehead, with doll shoes on the feet and the headband is full of lace. A doll – Nathan thought. “Thank you” said the doll. Said the doll A SPEAKING DOLL?? No, a real person! Nathan stood up and shouted, “Are you out of your mind miss?! If you want to die, dont fall from a tree. The fall will only leave you with a broken leg!”
“No, I just want to let my tear drop from my eyes but it doesnt want to so I tried to jump from a tree. Did you feel any wet thing just now?”He was dumbfounded by her shallow reason. He held her wrist to comfort her but was stunned to see cuts. She said she only did one and another person told her to do the other cuts. Nathan said she still has someone to hold on to – God and her family. She didnt believe and said she has no family.
“Then who cares for you and what do you do to live?” asked Nathan.“Dont you want to know my name first before asking me that?”“Im Nathan. Sorry if – ”“Im Mary. Im happy I knew you.”She left Nathan with a simple smile that he cannot forget and he noticed she was carrying a teddy bear while going away.At school, Nathan couldnt stop thinking about her. Maybe because he took Psychology that hes interested in whatever the girl is going through. Until he went home in the afternoon and got online. In a game there was a player with a username DOLLFACE. He remembered Mary and asked Ethan about her.
“Dude, you chill here sometimes right? Do you know a girl whos porcelain white skin, got baroque style taste in her get up -”“You mean Rebecca? The one who always has a teddy bear? Thats the lost soul thats always roaming in your subdivision dude. Shes called by three names: The Witch, The Walking Mannequin, and The Voodoo Doll.”
Nathan thought about their introduction. She said she was Mary but people know her by the name Rebecca, The Witch, The Walking Mannequin and The Voodoo Doll. It really gets weirder by the moment. Days passed and he saw Mary in school. He just knew that Mary was taking up Bachelor of Music, Major in Voice-Theater and Dance. That explains why he has the gut-feeling that he has already seen Mary somewhere somehow. He saw her in a play required by the school to watch. She was the lead female but he fell asleep that time so he remembered little of it. They went home afterwards but Nathan really doesnt know the heck why he wanted to go home with a weird girl. Just as he was getting on his bike parked at the entrance of the subdivision, he asked Mary if she wanted to get on his bike so that she wouldnt have to walk but when he stared forward, Mary was already far. He caught up on her and asked her.
“Do you really want to get into my life?” Mary asked.Do I really? Nathan thought. He can allow it or he can always forget about her and go on with his own life. He went home dazed about Marys question. Just as he was about to play on his computer, the doorbell rang. He raised an eyebrow and thought whether he should let the person in or shoo her out. But then again, why would he let her in and why would he shoo her away? She gave him a box with blanched Hybrid Tea Rose seeds and said if those seeds bloom, shell get out of his life but if not, shell let him disturb her life and let him disturb hers too. She also asked if he believed in miracles. Nathan was too stoned to answer her weirdness and she just left him with the box. He took it to his moms garden and scattered the seeds in a vacant spot.
The next few days bothered Nathan with thoughts of the blanched seeds and Marys words. He went to the park to see if Mary was there but he hit someone while riding his bike. Fortunately it was her.
“Ouch!”“Are you okay?”“Youre still asking me that when you already see a scrape on my knee?”“Thanks.”It should be sorry and not thanks right? Shes really weird.“Shouldnt you be sorry?”“Im in the pedestrian lane so I dont have any mistake on you.”“Pedestrian lane in a subdivision?”“Yes. Thats life. Sometimes you dont know some things really do exist.”She produced some cotton and alcohol and treated Nathans knee. She laughed when Nathan was scared of the sting of alcohol which left Nathan surprised that she can laugh so warmly and heartily. When she finished treating Nathans scrape, she carried on to the swing. Just as

While you were out you noticed the sting of Alcohol in Nathan’s leg. He started to feel it on his body. There was a feeling that nothing was to blame, nothing was to say or do. You took a quick glance around and made sure that it wasn’t the alcohol you were saying. You asked for information from Nathan’s mom in terms of what she thought he was doing to Nathan. She mentioned he was going to kill anyone, especially anyone he tried to save. You decided he was doing better than you expected, thinking to yourself that maybe you are the one he should have saved more than he did. But…

Your next thought was after giving up the car Nathan drove it down the road, he decided to have something to look forward to. And what is the best way to do that without feeling guilty about everything he has ever done in his life? Asking himself “If it makes me feel better?” you might try this a number of times. You may think that maybe his actions alone did not make him any safer. Or you might suggest he was the one that drove him off the road to get Nathan to kill Nathan. But, this is not happening.
And when you thought you had changed, then what you ended up finding yourself thinking about yourself is not that you have changed at all. It is that you have not been able to think about the consequences of that choice. You have not come out of that into any other situation where you should have been doing what you should feel as a teenager and been doing it on purpose. And you have not been able to understand
