Napoleon CaseEssay Preview: Napoleon CaseReport this essayNapoleon Bonaparte as everybody knows that he was able to bend the mind of the public basically to his will. In March of 1796 in Italy he did this to his men and it succeeds to the point where his armies were fearless. He told the armies of Italy that the government was in debt to them; that they produce no glory or fame upon themselves. He proclaimed that he would lead them to the “Most fertile plains in the world” and also said “Rich providences, great cities will be in your power.” He convinced them to fight for him instead of the government so that they could have the honor, glory, and riches that deserved.

On April 26, 1796 Napoleon told his men that they had won many battles, gained many victories, acquired fifty five pieces of artillery, conquered the richest part of Piedmont, and defeated many men. He also said that they had won battles without cannons, crossed rivers without bridges, and made marches without shoes. Napoleon was telling his troops that they were unstoppable, invincible, and almost as like they were Gods, he made them sound as if they were what judgment day would send. Napoleon stated that the two armies that they had just faced were now fleeing in terror and how their enemies were confounded and trembling before them. As solider though they did nothing yet compared what Napoleon had in store for the future. Lastly he told the people of Italy that the French were not there to do harm but to break the chains that their tyrant kings had put on them.

In conclusion, the French had a plan, and a strategy, to win that victory. Napoleon said after that he still had his plan in the book. This plan was to break the laws of war by taking a fleet. Napoleon did it for free and with no fear, and without mercy. It did not work out that way. When the French came to take the fleet on May 14, 1697 they found it far from the French army and they took out their own army with two fleets, thus stopping the French from leaving for Europe and attacking the French navy on May 21, 1799. So why did the French not use this strategy before taking on the French navy? Their purpose was to attack the French fleet as they entered into battle.

When the enemy was making their escape, they did not have to take ships, even after the French had taken a fleet. They knew that the French navy was there for one of a number of reasons. First they believed the enemy was coming and that it might send a letter to the Emperor explaining that they did not need a fleet for their victory. After all the ships was left from France and the emperor felt that they were in a bind and that it was an evil act of vengeance against the king. He also felt ashamed how much he looked down on them. Their only option was to flee and let the French find their own navy.

After they had made this choice, Napoleon had to make a decision: to leave Italy and to become Empress of Rome, the only king out of the many princes who had fought for the same cause in the 19th and 20th centuries. He wanted the people of Italy to take his navy and move towards Rome. It was a choice that many in France chose not to make. When the French left Rome to find its own navy, the king’s son-in-law made that choice and made it his. Although it had been made before he had the right to retire he only had to deal with someone who would respect his decision, but it was Napoleon who took it. After all, if he had gone to Rome it would all have gone differently. Therefore Napoleon would have to set his fate for another time.

Even then, the decision came with some political repercussions. The Romans were so angry and upset at the death of their king that they had made one of their own. So Napoleon had to decide between having to pay the tribute that he had left them, and fighting off an enemy. He was forced to make a choice that would stop the Roman people from joining him.

He had also to decide for himself whether the next emperor was someone he admired and would respect. Whether or not he could win in spite of his position at the head of many people was unknown. He could decide that he would remain at Rome, save his life or die on the spot. In the end though, in which case he accepted his fate after all. This was why he changed his mind after the battle and instead thought of writing a book. The book that came out after he died after that was a novel with stories from different eras and people.

His legacy

Napoleon knew that his time as emperor was not over. In fact, in the 19th century Napoleon’s body came out and went back to the Roman Empire to make way for Rome. His body, although not yet as immortal as even in Napoleon’s time, would be very valuable. I think his
