Mr. Marvin Gros was a proud graduate of Southern Law from Southern University Law School and passed the American Bar Association in 1989. After attaining his law degree, he searched around locally and ended up starting his own law firm in his hometown of Donaldsonville, Louisiana. As of today, Mr. Marvin has successfully grown his own business into 9 full-time employees, including himself as the entrepreneur. The other employees includes two licensed attorneys that works as his associates. His office also entails a paralegal, which can also be referred to as his office manager, and a group of five clerical workers that also sort out his work for him. Out of those nine employees, four of them are certified notaries, including himself, his two associates, and his paralegal. Mr. Marvin’s normal hours of operation for his employees are from Monday through Friday 8:00a.m. till 5:00 p.m. Lawyers invariably are involved in galvanizing events in the lives of people on an everyday basis. This involvement may occur in a face-to-face setting with the client or through less intimate contacts involving the process of legal documents. With the strenuous job of a lawyer, Mr. Marvin tells me that his hours of operation, which entitles anything from office work, to meeting with clients, or even representing one of his clients’ in court, usually starts as early as 6:00 a.m. without ending until 7:00 p.m. Although the hours of work dedicated to his field, he exclaims that the “practice of law is exciting, meaningful, and rewarding, whereas it gives me the ability to beneficially and significantly affect the lives of many people throughout your career.”

JOB TASKS
Mr. Marvin explains that the main task of a lawyer is to solve a clients problem to the best of his potential. People come to a lawyer for help in solving their problems. A lawyer must be able to empathize in order to properly understand the needs and concerns of his client, but a lawyer must develop objective, and analytical skills to identify the potential legal issues that must be addressed with his client and then to formulate a plan to reach a result that is consistent with the desires of his client as well as the requirements of the law. To be a successful lawyer, you must always be one step ahead of the competition, which is where further studies into law evolve where a lawyer can never stop reading the law. While this task may seem effortless, it does require some work. From the day one enters law school until the last day before retirement, a lawyer must keep in mind that the law is always changing or having an addition added to it. Whether it be statutes, agency rules and regulations, or court decisions, a lawyer may never assume the law remains fixed. Each and every successful lawyer must dedicate a significant
