A person of a different color or of a different race shouldnt affect the way you judge them or the way you look at them. Just because they dont look like you doesnt mean you have to judge them differently than how you would judge a person of your own race and of your own background/culture. Coming from a different culture and from a different race shouldnt make you look at a person differently, and you should always get to know a person before you judge them.
In the play, “A Raisin in the Sun,” written by Lorraine Hansberry, Mr. Lindner didnt want the Younger family to move into the Clybourne Park community, because they were African-American not white, and they thought that the Younger family was going to be a bad influence on their kids and that they were probably dangerous. Mr. Lindner made racial discrimination against the Younger family, because he didnt want an African-American family living in Clybourne Park, an all-white neighborhood. Mr. Lindner and the people he represents can only see the color of the Youngers skin, and his offer to bribe the Younger family to keep them from moving threatens to tear apart the Younger family and the values for which it stands. Lindner: “Well-I dont understand why you are reacting this way. What do you think you are going to gain by moving into a neighborhood where you just arent wanted and where some elements-well-people can get awful worked up when they feel that their whole way of life and everything theyve worked for is threatened.” So Walter and his family responded to this discrimination with defiance and strength and they didnt accept Mr. Lindners check, if they did accept his check then they wouldve thrown away their dreams of becoming a better family.
