During the last twelve months First Ukrainian International Bank has focused on the development and modernization of its telecommunication infrastructures, new and existing software and the improvement of informational security. The opening of the new Head Office in Donetsk completed the formation of the Banks computer network, estimated as one of the biggest in Ukraine. The extension of the branch network required the implementation of local computer networks in Gorlivka, Soledar, Ismail and connection to the Banks general computer network. Research and development work on the choice of facilities has been carried out to ensure efficiency and security of the computer network in view of its probable further extension.
In 1997, the Bank, in cooperation with KPMG, carried out an investigation on the level of informational security of its computer network. In accordance with the recommendations to increase the security level the Department of Technical Information Security was organized and the first steps were made to separate the personnel functions and to reserve key computer network resources.
