Be Informed About Earthquakes
Earthquakes can happen at any moment but you yourself can’t be to sure when they will. Although, you can always be ready in case one does decide to happen.

Earthquakes happen when occurs in plate tectonics when they break or slip under another plate. Some stress occurs when the plate boundaries and faults move. Plate tectonics are in a stick-slip motion and can make some earthquakes that cause landslides, building damage, and liquefaction. All types of plates are interacting with one another depending on where they are within the earth.

Some of the most major earthquakes have happened here in California. One of these earthquakes include the Landers earthquakes that happened on June 28, 1992. This earthquake had a magnitude of 7.3 and was on the Johnson Valley fault line. The next earthquake was the Kern County earthquake on July 21, 1952. This earthquake had a magnitude of 7.3 and it was on the White Wolf Fault. In the West of Eureka on January 31,1922, there was an earthquake with the magnitude 7.3 and on the Mendocino fault line. One last earthquake was the Great San Francisco earthquake on April 18, 1906. The magnitude for this earthquake was 7.8 and was on the San Andreas fault line.

Predicting earthquakes is not as hard now as it was back then, before technolog. With modern technology, scientists use the Modified Mercalli scale, the Richter scale and the Seismograph. The Modified Mercalli scale allows scientists to measure the damage of structures from the earthquakes. The Richter scale allows scientists to measure the amount of energy the was release by earthquakes. Lastly, the Seismograph allows scientists to record the earthquake’s waves. I do think that these scales are reliable but I also think they can be totally unreliable. They could pick up something that is wrong or false and then we would not be able to reevaluate the earthquake.

Though we can’t be too sure when an earthquake is
