Maynard Leigh Associates: Consultantpreneurs’dilemma of Purpose or ProfitEssay Preview: Maynard Leigh Associates: Consultantpreneurs’dilemma of Purpose or ProfitReport this essayCast study: Maynard Leigh Associates: Consultantpreneurs’Dilemma of Purpose or Profit        In this case, Maynard Leigh Associates (MLA) didn’t embed ethics into their management culture. Arora and Gupta found them in the dilemma of purpose or profit. Either they compromise on their values or lose current and potential business from their clients. It is obvious that MLA management didn’t embed ethical code into their management, and because of it they are swinging back and forth. Ethical conduct is important because it not only involves doing what is right and proper, but it is also good for business. Ethical conduct is the basis for long-term success in any organization.        Firstly, MLA overvalued the outcomes. Malhotra didn’t let FMCG know that they didn’t need further session of mission and value immediately. It is because that he clearly understood that MLA would lose further business opportunities whenever he let FMCG know that most of their managers are experts to deliver effective and impressive presentations to large audiences and to attend the extra workshop is wasteful. In MLA’s policy, employee were leaders in their own rights, and that each one had the ability to make decision that would work in the interests of the organization (

Secondly, MLA management overlooked the unethical behavior to get its interest. MLA is a startup consult company. Fund is definitely critical for MLA. But in the pursuing of profit, following ethical code is more significant compared with profit. During their consultant work with an IT giant company, Arora and Gupta clearly know that their client’s CEO was the main roadblock to the organization’s success. But they hesitated to inform CEO or their chairman because CEO had given them lots of business and would give them more in the future. As a startup company, if MLA can grow with this IT giant company MLA will definitely have a brilliant future no mention of profit and reputation. This conflicts of interest are often not readily visible for management and will cause unethical behaviors. It will ruin company’s reputation and business in the longterm.

The Problem?

In the past, you have experienced the high number of unethical behavior among business consultants. What if the company’s CEO, for example, doesn’t want to talk to their clients because of a perceived problem which they are working on and they want to be more forthcoming when their customers come to their offices?

How is it for an IT company to tell its clients and business executives how to handle ethical issues, when this issue is still within their power to resolve? What is happening now to ethics in this field? What does the Indian IT firm know about the unethical conduct in its consulting business, and can it provide more transparency about this from its clients? These questions were also raised by Dr. Ram Srivastava, a leader in the ethics of IT and IT services for the Indian government.

Srivastava says, “A large number of unethical practices in our consultancy business are brought to the point of being illegal. But these unethical actions were not committed by a group or companies, but by a single professional. There were other companies, like Microsoft, who were doing these unethical practices. We now say that the unethical practices are actually in the work now and the companies are not taking any action against these individuals and are only doing so purely because they have decided to make sure that these individual practices don’t violate government policies. This is not at all the time in history when the government was dealing with unethical behavior. In the past, the company executives were in control until they realized of the company policy or the company’s ethical guidelines. Now the government is doing its own. What the government says is that we should be not going after these individuals and employees of these firm because they are not following government policies or not following ethical guidelines. The business leaders and government were concerned at the thought that this could be done to protect the industry. Now this will become even more necessary as the rule of law and laws become better. A well-documented example of this was in the 1980s when Microsoft’s decision-making was made legally and legally based in India. We don’t know whether the Indian government’s ethics laws got enforced or if Microsoft was doing it with the explicit intent to protect the industry and our customers. The government needs to take a closer look. What is it that the Indian government is doing? What is it doing to stop these unethical practices in the industry ? In the future, we will have to remember that the government is doing that to protect our employees of the company, our clients, and our customers. So, this is good news for us, bad news for our friends and good news for the business community. However, bad news is still not news for us. We know that unethical practices are still happening in this field because the government needs to know about these practices. It needs to address the unethical practices and ensure that they are not going to be repeated through an open government. But good news is still not going to be brought to our attention that government is looking into them. This is in the public interest and I hope they take some steps now to help the industry and society by improving public perception of this.”
