The phenols they produce are used by companies that make plastic products, fiber, pharmaceuticals, ink, and adhesives. The polymers are sold to companies that make pipes and films.

The chairman and president of Mitsui Chemicals is Hiroyuki Nakanishi and the vice presidents are Yozu Kinoshita and Ryutaro Koyasu. The main domestic branch is located in Tokyo Japan. There are also three branch offices in Japan. They are located in Fokuoka, Osaka, and Nagoya with work centers in Ichihara and Omuta. The company also has four sites overseas. They are in China, Southeast Asia, Europe, and America.

The company in America is called Mitsui Chemicals America, Inc., and is located in Purchase, New York. This company focuses on the production of chemical solvents, polymers engineering plastic, electronic materials, and adhesive resin. Many of the products produced by the American company are sold to large manufacturing companies in North and South America. The companies use the chemicals to manufacture cosmetics, food packaging, medical instruments, and even automobile parts.

Mitsui Chemicals is a financially strong company that has continued to grow since the company first opened its doors in 1997. Their stock has provided its holders with steady returns on holdings each year. It has over 17,000 employees and employed 2.5% more people in 2004 than in 2003.
