Abstract
There are many different functions of the criminal justice system. Each one carries a key part in planning and executing. The parts are Police, defense counsel, district attorneys offices and judges.

Important points in the pretrial process.
Serving a warrant to the party who are the defendant. the warrant must be obtain from a judge
Reading the defendant there Miranda rights and advising them of their right to counsel
the Defendant must be presented in front of a judge local or federal
have the warrant reviewed to make sure there was probable cause it must be done by a judge
the defendant must have the right to choose not guilty
Defendant has the right to a trial by jury
the right to have counsel confront and cross examine the accuser at trial
the defendant has the right to waive trial if the court accepts a plea of guilty or no contest
the defendant has the right to know the maximum and minimum possibility of penalties
the court also can order restitution
PRETRIAL PROCESS
Indictment
Prosecutors will bring forth any evidence to the jury in order to determine if it is enough to continue with the trial
Jury Selection
select individuals at random from the community to be question to see what type of case they would be right to give a verdict on
they are the actual group that is selected to give a verdict on the facts presented
Grand jury
this type of jury determines whether or not there is sufficient evidence to warrant a trial
SUMMON OR WARRANT FOR ARREST
this is done after all the evidence is determine to be enough for a warrant or summons to be issued
