Stress & Disease
Millions of people are dying each year from stress and related illnesses. Unfortunately these illnesses are treatable, and most importantly preventable. Their must to be a way for people with stress related problems to get help. We need better understanding, and more education of this major illness which is crippling a lot of people around the world.

Human beings all over the world live in different ways. Most diseases people get is due from their cultural background and where a person lives. The beliefs and attitudes which are taught to their children also have a lot to do with their health and aging process. Stress is a killer and is not something you or your spouses want to have hanging over one’s shoulder. Stress is something that one person is worried about: like a new job interview, being fired from a job, or going on a date. Stress, is basically a person walking around with a disease that will not go away unless he stops worrying about his problem. Constantly worrying about anything is not good for your mind and body. Migraine headaches sometimes occur when people are constantly thinking over and over about something they cannot fix or take care of.

The two basic categories of stress are: acute stressors and chronic stressors. Acute stressors include disasters such as earthquakes and tornadoes. The death of a spouse or child has a lot of stress on one individual and can be a life changing event. The more acute stressors individuals have the more they are prone to have mental illness, or some kind of stress related disease. In a community study in an American city, Kessler and Cleary (1980) found that effect of life events on depression was concentrated among lower-class respondents; there was no effect in the middle-class group.

Chronic stressors are with us everyday when it comes to our social roles and day to day living. Some people have a hard time paying their bills, supporting their families and spending time with their kids and raising them the right way. These people have a greater chance of becoming depressed, when dealing with day to day activities. Other indicators of people having more stress then others, is your education level, the job you have, the lifestyle you choose to lead. Those people that smoke and drink alcohol, have a better chance to have these stressors in their life.
