Democracy in the Middle East
The Middle East in the way we know it, and Democracy in the way we know it, are crucial for one to understand in order to know: is it possible the two to coexist, and if so, how it could be achieved. In my Paper I am planning to put forward the historical background of the history and meaning of democracy and the background of the Middle East, as unbiased, as possible. In order to do that, I will compare the ways of how the developed countries (USA and the West in particular) have achieved democracy the way we know it, and the way the Middle East is expecting to achieve it. The two main differences here are, that the USA and the West (mostly) have achieved democracy driven by internal force (with the exception of Germany and Japan), and the way of the Middle East is expected to achieve it, is through imposing democratic values by countries that are seen through the eyes of people from the Middle East as continuing imperialism, as seen through the 19th and 20th century. The second main issue I will be working on here will be the difference of the cultural backgrounds of the countries in the Middle East the countries that are trying to impose democracy in the Middle East (the USA in particular). Once those two main issues are examined, I will put forward a plan how the facts of the that examination should be put forward to American students in a informed and even matter.
