For this test we had to answer 5 questions. The first one was to define what class was and to also explain what upper and middle class were. The next question was to explain what absolute and relative poverty are and the third question was define race and ethnicity and how they are different and similar. The last two questions were to explain what affirmative action is and lastly we had to define sex and gender and give four sexual identities.

Class is defined as a group of people who share a similar economic position and lifestyle. Basically that is saying that depending on what your job is, who you know and work with, and how much you make will determine the kind of people you associate with. Thats not always the case but if you think about it class is important because you get in a certain class by the money you make, your job, and people you know so the higher your class is the more likely it is that you have had bigger accomplishments in life. Upper class is where most people want to be. They want to be there because it means you have money and a successful career can do a lot of things the less wealthy cant. Most people in the upper class are CEOs, professional athletes, and celebrities. Although most of the upper class has worked hard to get where they are some of them only have a lot of money because they inherited it from a relative. If you have to work your way in to the upper class you are usually one of the best at what you do and they make at least 368,000 dollars a year which is a ridiculous amount of money. The middle class is split up into two parts the upper middle class and the lower middle class. The people in the upper middle class still make good money but dont have as much money or assets as the upper class. The mostly live off their salary with little in stocks and bonds but they dont have to worry about living paycheck to paycheck. In the lower middle class they might have some assets and a little bit of money but not much more than that. They usually have jobs with less benefits but are unionized which can help them out.

There are different types of poverty. Some people are in poverty because they cant find a job or are injured and cant work and that is known as absolute poverty. The other type of poverty is relative and that is when you dont have a job because you dont want one or arent searching for one and use the government to pay your bills and help you eat. Being in absolute poverty is better than being in relative because either youre hurt or you cant find a job because there arent many out there even though you are qualified for most jobs. With relative poverty you dont have a job because you arent qualified for any basic jobs or youre too lazy to go find one.

Race is defined as a category of people widely perceived as sharing significant characteristics like skin color. Ethnicity refers to a shared cultural heritage often, coming from a common ancestry or homeland. Some people dont like to be classified by their ethnicity because each ethnicity has their own stereotypes and others are worse than others. Most of them arent true
