The place: Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI
The situation: As the 110,000 plus die-hard Michigan fans in attendance wait with bated breath, the final seconds of the 4th quarter tick off. Michigans freshman kicker Jason Gingell lines up for a 37-yard field goal that will seal the #5 ranked Wolverines victory against the Appalachian State Mountineers from Division I-AA.

The football is snapped, Gingell approaches the ball and kicksand the rest is history.
Between 1989 and 2006, no Division I-AA team had beaten a team ranked in The Associated Press poll, let alone in the top 5.
Michigans shocking and deplorable home loss against Appalachian State, as well as the following weeks 39-7 annihilation at the hands of the Oregon Ducks marked the fourth consecutive loss for Lloyd Carrs once proud Wolverines.

These losses clearly exposed the Wolverines as a severely overrated team, as well as characterized something else, the need for a change at the top. Its time for Lloyd Carr, one of the most successful and renowned college football coaches in history, to step aside.

BODY:
Lloyd Carr has served as head coach of the University of Michigan football team since 1995. To date, he has 121 wins along with 38 losses and his team has finished lower than second place in the Big Ten conference only twice in the past 10 years.

Under Carr, the Wolverines have been ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for all but nine games during his tenure, have won five Big Ten titles, and made three trips to the Rose Bowl in the past four years;

HOWEVER, despite the massive amount of talent Michigan has recruited and developed over the years within their system, Carrs squad neither has won a bowl game since the 2002 season, nor has won a national championship since 1997.

Moreover, and most importantly to true Michigan fans, over the past several years Carr has displayed his glaring inability to beat the Wolverines most hated
