From The Notebooks Of Melanin Sun
Jacqueline Woodson
Melanin sun by Jacqueline Woodson is about a boy who has all sorts of problems with other people because hes of a different color . Then he finds out his mother like women and not men and he stars hating his own mother couse she doesent like men.

The book melanin is a about aboy that wrote everything he experienced in his life,. About what happened to his mom how he delt with it how he fell in love with a girl , how he hated white people, and how he came to relize that people who like people of the same gender is ok. one the part that cought my attention was when melanin mom told him that she liked people of her same gender and melanin started to hate and despise her mom couse of what she is. And he stars ignoring her and hating her more and more until he runs away because he couldnt stan being with his mother and the women her mother was with so he goes to his girlfriends house to talk and his girl firend explains to him its not good to hate people couse of what they like believe

ect. So he goes home to his mom and tells her he understands what love is like and if you love someone of the same gender or difreent belifs or color or how they look like. Then he says sorry to the women her mother loves.

I dont think this book was boring or anything. Since I started reading the book it got my interest and it really was got to you. The way he lived his worst part of his life and how he got throu it with the help of other people and understood that it shouldnt matter if you like a boy or a girl and also how he stopped being racist against white people . And learned that you shouldnt care what color the other person is .

Id recommend this book to teens because it will makee you understand that you shouldnt jude a book by its cover or you shouldnt
